My great passion is bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. I help my clients, who include adolescents and adults to find healthy perceptions of themselves.

About Me

As a therapist, my main goal when working with clients is to establish a strong therapeutic alliance and rapport. In order to do this, I believe it is essential to create a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves. This sense of safety allows clients to open up and explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without fear of criticism or rejection. In addition to mirroring, I also use techniques to help clients stay present in the moment. Sometimes, I may interrupt a client as they are telling their story to bring their attention back to their bodily sensations. This can help clients connect with their emotions and experiences on a deeper level, allowing for greater exploration and understanding. When helping clients explore their intentions and emotions, I approach the process with compassion and curiosity. I encourage clients to reflect on their intentions and how they are impacting them in the present moment. By inquiring compassionately towards their intentions, I help clients deepen their self-awareness and insight into their thoughts and behaviors. Overall, my approach to building the therapeutic alliance and rapport involves creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel understood and supported. By helping clients stay present in the moment and exploring their intentions with compassion, I aim to facilitate growth, healing, and self-discovery in therapy sessions. Creating a safe environment during the first therapy session is essential in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. When a client enters the therapy session, they may feel anxious, vulnerable, and unsure about opening up. It is my responsibility as a therapist to create a space where the client feels safe, heard, and supported so that they can begin to trust and open up. Emotional safety is also tackled by setting clear boundaries and expectations. This can include explaining the confidentiality of the session, outlining the goals of therapy, and addressing any concerns or fears the client may have. By establishing these boundaries, the client can feel confident in sharing their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or repercussion. Attunement is the process of connecting with another person on an emotional level and being responsive to their needs. By attuning to the client, the therapist can demonstrate empathy, understanding, and validation, which can help build trust and rapport. As the therapeutic relationship begins to form, the client may start to feel more comfortable opening up about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This openness is a crucial step in the therapeutic process as it allows the therapist to gain insight into the client's inner world and work collaboratively towards healing and growth. Through my learned knowledge and past experience, I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, so I follow a range of modalities including Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and now dwelling more into the learning of Dr. Gabor Mate through (Compassion Inquiry). The approach followed in the sessions is tailored to the client need and presenting goals.
